Context:

Manos de Chile (Hands of Chile) was the opening exhibition in the new MAPA headquarters in Compañía de Jesus St. #2691. It became permanent to show the changes and continuities of folk art and craftworking, seen in objects made from different materials by different people: from natives to nowadays Chilean society members. The exhibition mainly favored south-central Chile: the pottery from Pomaire, Talagante, and Quinchimalí, basket-making from Rari, vegetal carving from Chiloé, textiles from Doñihue, and a particular room for Mapuche and Rapa Nui collections.
