Description:
Photograph in rectangular format and horizontal layout. In a medium shot, a group of people is formed by four men and a Chilean army officer. Behind them, there’s a wooden cabinet with a strap-on exhibition, which is part of the MAPA’s Platería Mapuche (Mapuche silver-smithing) collection.
Context:
One of the itinerant exhibitions carried out under Julio Tobar’s direction was La Cultura del Huaso (Huaso’s Culture) which started in November 1984 as part of the Talca’s International Fair (FITAL) in the Universidad de Talca offices. It lasted approximately one month. Among the loaned pieces, a portion of the Platería Mapuche (Mapuche silver-smithing) collection: spurs, stirrups and straps, and textiles such as caps, corsets, and chamantos.
