Description:

Context:

It might be the first exhibition since the museum opened in 1943. It was made on December 20th, 1944, in Castillo Hidalgo (MAPA headquarter 1944-1981). It exhibited the Mexican collection, selected by Roberto Ayala, folklorist and founder of the Pátzcuaro Museum. The pieces were donated by the governments of Mexico, Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Peru, and Cuba on Universidad de Chile’s 100th anniversary. Thanks to this, the museum becomes an institution in the constant service of folk art research under the supervision of Tomás Lago (1943-1968).
