Description:

Photograph in rectangular format and horizontal layout. In a long shot are exhibition glass cabinets with objects from the museum’s collection. On the upper edge of the image, four chamantos hanging on the wall can be seen. In the middle are six glass cabinets with objects from the Colección Alfarería (Pottery Collection) inside. In the lower part, there are three glass cabinets with objects inside.

Context:

These objects belong to the Chilean section, one of the first collections made by Tomás Lago, as part of the Universidad de Chile’s 100th anniversary. This section gathers objects made from different materials, standing out the pottery from Quichimalí, Pomaire, and Talagante, mane clothes from Rari and Panimávida, chamantos from Doñihue, prison art and vegetal craved objects, iron saddlery and foundry, and pieces made by native people, which account for changes and continuations in the artistic and handcrafting production of the nation.
