This representation of the feminine figure contains proper elements of the Mapuche people, such as breastplates, punches, silver earrings, and silver headbands. Embajada de Chile. Platería Araucana (Embassy of Chile. Araucanian silver-smithing) can be read on the upper side. Buenos Aires can be read on the lower left side, and on the lower right side, 1966 can be read.

Context:

The Platería Araucana (Araucanian silver-smithing) exhibition belongs to one of the international exhibitions of the museum. This collection, recently renamed Colección Mapuche (Mapuche Collection) was exhibited in the Bellas Artes National Museum of Argentina in 1966. The exhibition was opened on September 7th and remained open until September 22nd. It displayed over 390 pieces from that collection, formed by silver pieces such as the apero, stirrups, spurs, earrings, rings, and breast guards. It was also by textiles, wooden objects, leather, basket making, and musical instruments.
