Context:
From its beginnings, one of the museum’s initiatives was to go all over different areas in Chile and abroad to gather information, preserve pieces, and capture images of folk art production places; folk artisans and intellectuals interested in folk art, which increased the collection. One of these trips was possible thanks to the scholarships given to Tomás Lago by the Brazilian government (director 1943-1968) in 1950, allowing him to conduct research and studies about the folk in that area for three months.
